Songs and Music of the River Thames
Working River is an open-ended joint project between the General Federation of Trade Unions Educational Trust and Folktree Recordings designed to collect and popularise music and verse recording the lives and deeds of those who live and work around the Thames, one of the most famous rivers in the world.
We have produced an initial CD of 21 songs to showcase just some of the music and song, new and old, that tells their stories but we believe there is much more to be uncovered and researched. We intend to create a memory bank on the GFTU website which holds what we have already discovered and seeks to add to our knowledge as and when new material emerges. This collective memory can inspire old and young to look into their past anew in order for us to understand our collective future.
- Grants and Scholarships
The GFTU Educational Trust has agreed a strategic set of principles that will underpin our delivery of education for the coming years.
- Do you have people relying on you to help them with first class support?
- Do you sometimes struggle to find reliable on-line information easily?
- Do you feel under pressure to ‘get the best outcome’ for your client?
Workable is the joint book publishing initiative of the General Federation of Trade Unions and independent publisher New Internationalist.
The General Federation of Trade Unions is a friendly democratic organisation responsive to the needs of affiliated Trade Unions.
The GFTU's informal and formal partnership arrangements go far and wide at home and overseas.
We strongly support a range of adult education organisations including Ruskin College, Northern College, the WEA and the co-operative movement.
