The GFTU wishes Ronnie Draper, General Secretary of the BFAWU until today, a very long and happy retirement. Ronnie has been an active member of his union for 47 years and a full time official then General Secretary for 33 years. Ronnie’s work has covered a lot of ground over those years, he has been tireless in support of members. When responsible for health and safety he took up the maximum temperature and flour related asthma issues. When responsible for education he fought to get the best possible opportunities for his members. The BFAWU has been a tireless campaigner against zero hours contracts and for younger workers in the fast food industries and Ronnie has always been there for his union. Ronnie is good at planning things, who else in the Movement could have been planned to be born on May Day and retire on on lockdown? All the best to Ronnie and Shirley and their family.
